SAUDI STEEL FIRMS have accumulated around one million tonnes of steel products in their stocks due to an export ban and poor demand. The industry has urged the government to reconsider the decision to ban exports and has valued the surplus steel at US$533mn. RUBBER IMPORTS AND exports into Dubai hit US$2.1 billion in 2008, according to recent reports. This is consistent with the trend of continuous growth in the demand for rubber products being seen worldwide. In line with this, Rubber World Industries (RWI), manufacturer of closed-cell rubber insulation Gulf-O-flex in the Gulf and South East Asia, has announced plans to reinforce its current production capacity.
